The acai berry is all the rage in the media right now. Its benefits are vast and include everything from weight loss, to improved skin and even the prevention of cancer. However, when there is so much hype and information surrounding this seemingly ordinary look berry, how can we separate the information we can trust, and the information that is written purely to lure us into a sale?

The best resource we have available to us is the internet. Look in the right places and the internet is full of acai berry reviews. However, there are a number of different types of acai berry reviews and how trustworthy each type is varies considerably.

So what kind of acai berry reviews is there?

Marketing reviews – or in other words ‘fake reviews’. These are acai berry reviews that have been planted online by the manufacturers themselves, or by their team of freelance writers. They will be full of praiseworthy words and if they can be spotted, are not to be trusted.

The same procedure is also used to counter-market a competitor’s product. These reviews are usually highly derogatory, more-so than would be expected from a genuinely disappointed consumer.

Real consumer reviews – these are reviews that genuine consumers of the products have written. While they are potentially the most valuable source of acai berry reviews, a certain level of scepticism must be maintained.

Every single person is going to have a slightly different experience. A consumer may state that they noticed no effects from the acai berry; however, they may have been eating fast food every day while guzzling down calorie laden fizzy drinks. We simply can’t be sure of the reasons why someone would have had a bad or good experience with an acai berry weight loss supplement.

Third party, unbiased reviews – these are reviews written by those who have no vested interest in the product – such as a blogger or writer of a news article. Their review will be based upon fact, not opinion and a well written review should contain reasoning behind each statement made.

So which type of review is most valuable?

Needless to say, any acai berry reviews placed as a marketing ploy should be disregarded entirely. Of course, spotting such reviews isn’t always easy.

Here are a few tips to secure your best chance of spotting fake acai berry reviews:

  • Look for reviews that appear too professionally written.
  • Keep an eye out for reviews that are either too praiseworthy or too derogatory. Generally, the genuine reviews will be fairly balanced.
  • Check to see if the same review is posted in multiple places. Genuine customers will rarely bother doing this.

Genuine consumer reviews do hold a lot of value, since they are written by people that have actually used the product. However as mentioned above, there is no way to be sure of each individual’s personal situation (such as their diet and how much exercise they partake in) meaning that when someone says a product worked miracles or didn’t work at all, there may be more reasoning behind this than the acai berry product alone.

The unbiased acai berry reviews therefore, may carry the most weight since they should be based around factual research and information.

Ideally, we should utilise the information available to us from both consumer and unbiased reviews. As of course, knowledge is power, and the more information we have the more informed a decision we can make.
